A Heart of Welcome

Introduction

Saying or singing “Hello” to a group of children is one of the best ways to build community in a classroom. The process does not need to be complicated but does need to be a standard of each class period. You can find numerous ideas in our article, “Fun Ways of Welcome to Bible Class” to help you say hello to your Bible class or any other class you may lead. Any child will feel valued if you make it a point to say their name and make them feel special.

Using a Heart to Welcome the Children

This time of year it is fun to incorporate hearts into what you are doing in Bible class. Many Bible lessons center around the theme of love so it is easy to carry this there through out even in your greeting.

We took the top from a small box of Valentine candy, cut out the image on the front side and used double stick tape to adhere it to jumbo craft stick. This makes a great see through looking glass for your “Welcome Song.”

Welcome Song

To sing the Welcome Song you will hold up the see through mirror to your face and look at the child. I had the cut out illustration on the top of the box facing me and the red in-side of the box facing the child.
