Introduction
Food is a great teaching medium for your ones! This activity allows you to make a really fun trail mix snack while teaching your child about what God made on the different days of creation. The instructions below are written so you can create this snack with your child. While making the trail mix, open your Bible and talk about what God made on each day of creation. You can also sing the Days of Creation Song as you go. If your are a teacher, you can make this with your class, or you can make the trail mix ahead of time and send it how with kids as a take home snack.
If you don't have any of the below materials, get creative and think of some other ideas of food you can add for the different days. Comment below with other ideas!
Materials
- Chocolate Chips
- Corn Pops
- Mini Marshmallows
- Blueberry Cheerios (or other blue cereal)
- Pretzel Sticks
- Raisins
- M&Ms
- Gerber Puffs (star-shaped)
- Goldfish
- Seeds
- Animal Crackers
- Lays Poppables (or other snack that looks like a pillow)
Instructions
Day 1
For Day 1, start off with Chocolate Chips in your large bowl. Talk about how there was darkness, then God said "Let there be light". Add in your Corn Pops for the light.
Sing Day 1 of the Creation Song:
Day 1, Day 1, God made light when there was none.
Day 1, Day 1, God made light when there was none.
Day 2
Next talk about how on Day 2, God made Heaven, the sky and waters. Add in your Blueberry Cheerios for the waters and your Mini Marshmallows for the sky.
Sing Day 2 of the Creation Song:
Day 2, Day 2, God made sky and seas of blue. Day 2, Day 2, God made sky and seas of blue.
Day 3
Next talk about how on Day 3 God made the land, plants, and trees. Add in your Pretzel Sticks for trees and your Raisins for plants.

Day 3, Day 3, God made flowers, plants, and trees.

Day 4
On Day 4, God made all the planets, stars, and sun. Add in your M&M's for all the planets and your Puffs for the stars galore.

Day 4, Day 4, God sun, moon, and stars galore.

Day 5
For Day 5, talk about how God made all the fish and birds that day. Add in your Goldfish for the fish. Add in the Seeds to represent the birds since birds eat seeds.

Day 6
Next for Day 6, talk about how God made all the other animals that day, including man. Add in your Animal Crackers.

Day 7
On Day 7, God was done with His Creation and it was good! Add in the Lay's Poppables to represent pillows for how God rested on the seventh day.
