“Be Our Guest Speaker” in Bible School

Introduction

We often teach Bible lessons about a variety of subjects such as fishing, healing, preaching, missionary work, boat building, singing, etc. There are great activities that can be done to illustrate and teach each of these subjects. But there is one resource that is present in the church that is not used. Its members.

Guest Speakers

How can members be used in the Bible School classroom to illustrate a Bible story? Let’s say you are telling the children the Bible story of Jesus calling the Four Fishermen to be His disciples; Peter, Andrew, James and John. Telling children that these four were fishermen, may not mean anything to them if they have never experienced fishing. Asking a member who loves to fish to come to Bible class to show their tools and talk about fishing, would be a fun way to introduce the lesson. Just allow ten minutes of your class for the share time. You will find the moments important to the children but also to your visitor. Now your Bible story is more understandable and you’ve involved more people in the Education Ministry.

Other Lesson Ideas

There are other lessons that are conducive to using a guest speaker.
– Healing of Jairus’ Daughter – medical professional
– Day of Pentecost – preacher
– Paul’s Missionary Trips – missionary
– Noah’s Ark or Building of the Temple – construction worker
– Ephesians 5:19 singing and making melody – song leader
– David and Goliath – military personnel, etc.

Have fun with this subject and think how you can involve your congregation. If you are looking for more ideas in your Bible class, check out our post on Bible class songs and games.
