Introduction
Jonah is a great lesson to cover with children to teach them about obeying God, even when it is hard and when it is not what you want to do. This activity can help when you are teaching your child about Jonah and it is one that has many benefits to it! You are reviewing the fact that Jonah was eaten by a large fish because he chose not to go to Nineveh like God told him to. You are also working on letter recognition with your child as they stamp each letter of the name Jonah to make the scales of the fish. Lastly, you are working on some fine motor skills as your child uses dot paints. Win, win, win!
All you need for this activity is the FREE Jonah fish printable below and some dot paints. You could also use markers, crayons, or dot stickers, but we prefer the dot paints if you have them. Your child will then take one color of the dot paint and stamp the J in the word 'Jonah' and then they will stamp each 'J' found on the fish. Next they will choose a new color and do the 'O', and so on. By the end, you will have a large fish with colorful scales.
This simple activity would be great for children ages 2 to 6. It would be an easy craft to add to a family Bible time or to the end of a Bible class lesson. Simple, educational, and fun - our favorite combination! If doing this as part of a family Bible time, you could also watch this Jonah cartoon while you make your fish.

Instructions
Take one color of your dot paint and stamp the 'J' at the bottom of the page. Then find all five J's through out the fish and stamp those with the same color.
Next, follow the same process with the 'O' by stamping the bottom word of 'JONAH' and then finding the five O's throughout the fish.
Keep going with each letter until you have a colorful fish full of scales at the end!
